Beauty News & Reviews
I’m not the type of girl who likes a subtle mascara, I want my lashes as big and long as possible 24/7. I’m blessed with good lashes and don’t bother with fakes so when I buy a mascara, I expect some serious results.
Up until now I’ve been in love with Max Factor False Lash Effect so it’s taking some serious searching to find a competitor. That’s where Lancome’s brand spanking new Hypnose Doll Eyes Mascara (which doesn’t hit stores until the end of May) and Catrice’s most recent mascara, The Giant, step in. One is a luxury brand that’s a splurge buy, the other can be picked up as your wander through Pennys. So which is the best? Find out below!
Lancome comes in the instantly recognisible silver box, Catrice is unboxed but you could argue that’s more environmentally friendly. Both look appealing although the Lancome mascara certainly looks a little more elegant in it’s curvaceous bottle with subtle flower detail. However, Dolls Eyes Mascara offers 6.5ml of product while The Giant offers nearly double (12ml). Lancome’s new mascara will be €27.95 while the Catrice mascara is €4.99.
Surprisingly, the shape of these wands is very similar, the only difference being the Catrice wand is an oversized version of the Lancome one. The Catrice wand is very nice, with the thick end giving great coverage to my longer lashes while the thinner end coats all the tiny lashes on the inner corner. The Lancome one is slightly easier to use as it’s smaller.
As you can see, results are very similar! Both can look a little clumpy so make sure there isn’t too much product on the wand before you use either. The Catrice won’t work if you tend you rub your eyes a lot or if you need a waterproof mascara but for a lovely full lash look this is a winner. The Lancome one will wear better and gives an equally nice look so it’s a case of weighing up the price options!
Winner: For me, it has to be Catrice!
