Beauty News & Reviews
Primers are one of those products that divide opinion. Some people never use them and don’t think they’re necessary while the other camp (where I’m firmly placed) can’t live without them. Find a good primer, and your skin will instantly look smoother, brighter and more even. The really good ones will leave you feeling so confident about your skin, you’d wear them out alone. So while I’ve been shelling out a whole heap of euros on the best and most expensive primers, I’ve been neglecting the often equally good options available in Boots and the like. So that’s where my latest purchase steps in, Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro.
The product: Nicely packaged in cream and blue, this squeezy tube has 30ml of product which is decent for a price of under €9. This claims to have 5 effects in one bottle: Smoothing, Resurfacing, Brightening, Mattifying and Protecting.
Application: The product comes out creamy and white and feels instantly cooling and relaxing on my skin. This felt expensive on and sinks in quickly to a matt finish.
Result: This is a great budget buy. I found it hydrating on my dry areas, more so than mattifying. It provided a lovely moisturised base for makeup and helped my foundation go on really smoothly. My makeup stayed on well for the day although I found I was slightly more prone to shininess than normal. Overall though, I really liked this and it’d be perfect for girls with dry skin.
Pros: Cheap, hydrating and smoothing, a lovely primer to use
Cons: It seemed to make me shinier than normal
Would I buy again? I’m not sure yet but I think it could be a great primer to have on hand for dry skin days!
